Default Divers Door Stuck: Latch Broken...dealer wants $409.36

This is high. He says $95.09 for the part and $296 (3-hours labor) to do it. Said the panel has to come off and remove seat to get to. I wouldn't think it would take 3-hours to do this? Please advise....

Just called another dealer and he said the same. Said they have to pry the door off.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha  :lmao:

Yeah good luck with that. It happened to me. You can do it yourself but it's a fvcking bitch.

Here's what you need to do:
1) Remove seat
2) Remove door panel
3) knock the shit out of the actuator/latch until it finally opens the door
4) replace the actuator/latch assembly

Only my seat won't come out (long story...) so I had to rip my door panel apart and ended up using 3 big ass drill bits to pop the door open. It took me an entire weekend to do. Cost me $40 total (actuator/latch off ebay, drill bits and some lubricant). Good luck and take some pics.

It's not that hard if your seat comes out. I don't see why anyone couldn't do it themselves.

And yeah, it took me probably 6-8 hours to do it. But that was because of the seat.

Try this. It's for a 4th generation, but may be similar to your 6th gen

thats about right since it is a pain in the a$$ to do and the fact he has to try and not damage the doorpanel or the door while hamering on the actuator/latch I have done this on quite a few 4th gens as it happends alot on them and the latch is $280 for those cars .

Goto one of those small shops, like someones underground garage somewhere and you can get it done cheap as hell. I had the same problem with my door, and the dealer est was $600. So i bought the replacement part from honda acura parts recycling center (its in nor cal) for $70 and had this this small asian shop (L&M auto body, also in nor cal) saw off the old one and replace it with the new one for $50. They asked for $35 but i gave them a tip because of all the work he had to do to get it off.

Oh and one more thing, 98coupe said he doesnt know why anyone can do this themselves-- A. You could totally fuck up your door if you dont know what youre doing, or if you do know what you are doing you can still fuck up your door. And B. Dude, it took you a whole weekend, like someone wants to sit in there car breaking shit with a powertool the whole weekend, yeah that sounds like something everyone wants to do.

I personally wouldn't trust a underground shop as they might saw your door in half or not put the door back together right it's basically a 3-hour job (takes me 1.5 on the 4th gen) but if I screw somthing up in there it's on me.
