99 v6 accord gas mileage
I purchased my 99 accord v6 in october or so and ive realised that ive been getting around 240 miles to 14.5 gallons on a 17.1 gallon tank that would be around 280-290 miles to the tank.(dont let tank empty all the way). So that would be around 16.5 miles to the gallon. I do mainly city driving but usually not in too bad of traffic. What can i do to improve this god awful gas mileage which is estimated at a 23 mpg in city i believe? Since it is an automatic i cant rly shift the car manually but i try to control the accelerator to keep the car at 2k rpm from 1-2, 2300 from 2-3, and 2100 or so from 3-4. Are there any minor modifications that can improve this other than purchasing a new car.
BTW: I've checked tire pressure its around 34 all around.

ive read in the manual that i shouldnt put more than 89 or 87 (dont remember) because of the compression ratio of the car. 91 or 92 doesnt give u better gas mileage...its just a common misconception, it is harder for the engine to burn so it struggles to burn it and in turn uses less of it. so in reality ur just putting alot of stress on ur engine.

Your car is NOT rated for 23MPG in the city. It's 20. I usually get 18 in the city. Try taking a highway trip and actually calculating it instead of half assed guessing and then we'll know betterf.

I get about 600 miles on a full 17.2 gallon tank on my 2002 accord 2.3, 5speed. that's around the low 30 mpg's. trade in ur car for a 4 banger if i were u.
600miles to a tank?
