Default Help please

I want to attend an auto-x next weekend and I can't find a Snell sticker anywhere on the helmet I have, it's a crappy one my friend didn't want anymore. Does anyone know where I can find a pretty cheap helmet with a Snell approval online? I need to order soon and I don't want to spend more than $120 if possible.

Found this one, will it work?

I do not see a M2000 or SA2000 or better anywhere. I wouldn't get it. Just go to a local motocycle shop and then you can try one on and see if it fits. The labels are usually underneath the liner inside the helmet.

How much will that probably run? I just want the cheapest one I can get that has the proper certification. Open face is fine too right? I'll probably go looking tommorow. I don't quite get why they are picky about a helmet when the only thing it's doing is making sure you don't accidently knock your head on the inside of the car and get a bruise or maybe get knocked out worst case, it's not like there's any walls to hit. :dunno:

Just sucks for me because I barely fit without one.

I got mine for $100 (closed faced).

It's a motorsport. That's why you need a helmet. I've seen cars roll over at autocrosses. Not a pretty site and you would be glad you have a helmet on.

Most regions will have loaner helmets available at events. Not a permanent solution, but if you can't find anything before this weekend, it'll do.

I found on that had the SA2005 standard. What is the deal with closed vs. open face?

Most tracks require SA helmets. But each organization might be different so you should check.

I like a closed face:
1) I wear contacts
2) when I went off course it's the dust and debris that follows after your off course excursion that sucks and slams you in the face
3) I like my smoked visor so I don't have to wear sunglasses

So I guess my question is, if I decide to do track days would either an open or closed faced SA2005 helmet be acceptable? Or do some require a closed face?
