Default How did you make your car numbers?

I'll be running in my first Auto-X next weekend and I need to temporarily put numbers on my car. I've heard of people using magnetic sheets from a hobby/craft store; is that what most people do? I just want something that looks nice and is easy to put on and take off, so that's what I'm planning to do. But, I'm open to other suggestions... I've never really looked at anyone's numbers up close. Anyone care to post pics of their Auto-X numbers?

Does anyone know the requirements for the height/width of the numbers? I heard 8 inches high and 1 inch stroke; is that the official requirement?

8 inches is correct. As for the stroke, I cannot remember.

I went to the local sign shop and for 40 bucks they made me 6 numbers and 2 STS plates. I got black vinyl numbers on a white magnetic background. I got the numbers 1,6, and 4 just incase somebody already has my number when I go to a different region, it gives me plenty of options.

Good call not going rice with the 'touring' number plates.

I just printed out the paper thing they used, and masked taped it. You can also use shoe polish but it isnt good for the paint if u dont get the **** off.

Minimum Height is 8" Stroke is 1-1/2". For larger numbers make the stroke proportional to the height using the 8" as a guide. ANother thing-the numbers should be separated by 1 stroke width. Finally-where to buy them-I use the local Fast Signs shop. They charge according to the square footage of the material used. A race weekend costs me about $20 for 2 sets (1/side) of low tack material. The magnetic ones will probably be a bit more, but work very well. You can find these shops in the phone book and they can do it the same day.

At my local autoX they have numbers pre-printed that you can use.

I just made my own using a pen and paper. Total ghetto style

I'm going to make my own using vinyl static sheets. So I can attach them to the window and I think the vinyl sheets are cheaper.

DakarM, don't do it. In the book it says that the numbers may not be on any window surface. And if they are allowing it out there, then so be it. But the book says NO!!!

We have window numbers, but I also run magnets:

Some regions allow you to use shoe polish on your windows and others require magnets only.

Are you actually sponsored by all those companies, or are you just showing your support for them?
