Default ABS Light

I drove my 1997 3.5RL for several blocks not realizing that the parking break was on, and the ABS light came on.

Now when I start the car and put into drive and start to move, a few seconds later the ABS light comes on and stays on. Any help you be greatly appreciated.

hmmmm..... My ABS light also came on and stayed on when I was low on the brake fluid so just in case, check for that first.

It is possible that you ripped off your brake pads on one or more wheels so you could also check on that. If they don't appear totally used up and ready for replacement, maybe just take them off, clean the whole assembly with a spray and put back on.

I am not an expert... just guessing (that's sometimes better than dumping 500 bucks for a similar thing at the dealer or any shop...)

Yogi799, Many thanks for you response/ideas. I have an appointment with the ACURA dealer, so I'm saving the $ I would have used for break cleaner, and spending it on a jar of Vasoline, so that I am properly prepared to receive the repair estimate.

Come on... the parking brake should not do that much damage. At least, I don't think so. It won't be that bad...

When I jumped the ABS diagnostic plug, I got a 4-4 code. This is right rear wheel sensor. The dealer confirmed today that it is in fact the right rear wheel sensor that failed, Part cost: ~$100; Problem: Honda doesn't have any in stock. So for now, no ABS. But at least I know what the problem is. Thanks again for you interest/help.

If you cannot get it new, try www.car-parts.com
This is a collection of all salvage yards in the country. They have so much parts you could not imagine. If you don't mind used, of course.

Good luck!

If they ignore you for more than a couple days, just give them a call. I found that to be much quicker and you can get more info that way. They also usually ship right away if you call, but that depends on each salvage individually. I have some good experiences.

I have a 2002 Acura RL & it had 19 miles on it when I took it home after testdriving it. A few days later, My ABS & SRS lights came on. I took my car to the dealership & they replaced some sensor in the seat belt (or so they said) & the abs sensor. They said this was a rare occurence. Oh yeah, when I picked up my car, it had a dent in it, to me it looked like a really bad door ding. I was peeved!!!!!!!!!! Plus the lady told me that she couldnt be sure that it wasnt there before i brought it in, I replied that I know it wasnt there, so its in the shop again for dentless door repair...
