I have H&R sports on my '99 I4...I think they are a good spring...nice compromise of handling and ride compliance. H&R is a proven company, nothing to worry about there. Tirerack did a nice comparison of H&R sports vs Eibach Prokit, both installed on the same BMW 325i. Basically the Eibachs were a bit softer, so a bit better ride, but not as performance.
Obviously the H&R race are going to be more stiff than the sport, just depends on what you are looking at.
And I'm sure you can find them cheaper...I got mine for $150 back in about 2000.
