if you want a high-powered NA motor, you're gonna have to build it up a LOT and increase the compression ratio at the same time...if you're building your motor up to handle a turbo kit, you're gonna do it differently cause you don't want very high compression ratios for turbo setups...so try to decide whether you'd want to stay NA and do a fully built motor like that or instead reenforce your current motor specifically to handle a turbo kit

id like to build up the motor to have a decent amount of power than can accomodate a turbo with light to moderate boost

If your looking to get 290-310hp N/A you have a lot of work to do my freind and a lot of money to spend. It can be done, it just cost more. Not sure where you are located either, but an all motor build like that will never pass emissions. If that is not a concern than good luck to you, cause just about everything all motor will have to be done to attain your goal. Stroke, port/polish (max port), pistons (domed), rods, cams (stage 3), IM, intake, header, exhaust, crank, flywheel, clutch, valvetrain...geez that doesn't even sound like enough. I gotta be leaving stuff out. That will probably get you 250. But with that being done, it would be safe to squeeze (NOS) to get to that 290-310 mark. Good luck!!!

Then why are you looking at a higher compression motor than your current one?

The Type R motor is so incredibly overhyped. Just rebuild your current motor for boost and run circles around an equally priced Type R motor swap.
