Default new problem with my car and it has to do with the tranny i think.

today out of no where a whining noise is coming from the tranny and i think is the torque converter or a bearing.
I had a mechanic ride with me so he can hear it and he said its probably the torque converter.
my car now has 90k miles and i know someone with the same car but manual and his tranny went at 90k also.

my question to u guys. Do you think I will need a new tranny or i can just buy a torque converter once i find out thats the problem for sure.

I did a search here but not many ppl have tranny problem with their 5th gen accord.
I notice there is some type of oil righ where the tranny meet the engine.
the car rides fine shifts well but the whining noise goes and come and it start real low then it gets louder.

does it go away when you turn? a wheel bearing would go away if turned and that would have a whine sound as well. just a thought

if you get a whine while idiling you could find the noise with a screwdriver touching the "whining" part and the other end to your ear.
