What amp should I use to power 2 10" type-r's (2 ohm)?

Use a good 2ohm stable mono amp for each sub. Make sure each amp is tuned the same as the other. Im thinking about doing a P3 12" and using alpine mono amps on each coil.

Your talking about the 2 ohm dual voice coils right? If you are then that amp will be putting out around 300 watts and i have a feeling it might be a bit overrated. If it will be loud enough or not to you, who knows. No way to tell. Youll need to look for something that makes power at 2 ohms if your going to hook both subs together or one that makes power at 1 ohm or 4 ohms if your going to have an amp to each one.

The amp makes 500x1 at 2 ohms. It will do the job perfectly, even more so with a cap. Those subs can do either 2 ohms or 8 ohms. Its dual 4 ohm coils buddy.

They have both a dual 4 (swr 1042d) and a dual 2 (swr 1022d) according to the alpine site. It depends on which he has. If it is dual 4s then that amp is fine. Im not sure if hes talking about a 2 ohm final load or 2 ohms on each voice coil.

It appears that he has dual two ohm coils by his edit on his first post. Id still do dedicated amps.

Aside from the visual appeal of a well planned dual amp setup. It makes the wiring of the subs much easier.

Dedicated amps also make tuning and wiring of the amps harder.

I would prefer everything into a single chassis if everything else is the same. I think it looks neater, mounting is easier (granted there is space), and wiring is easier. Just my opinion.
