when i was running my stock deck 4 years ago i tapped directly into the speaker wires at the rear deck. just climbed into the trunk and tapped into them from there.

Yes, just connect the line out converter to the left and right +'s and -'s of the rear speakers. It is much easier to do it that way than behind the radio. IMO, sound quality with the converter is bad. I would run that while saving up for a aftermarket deck so you can hook the amp directly the headunit's outputs for better sound.

The cars stock wiring will be two seperate wires for negative and positive. You could tap the signal directly from the rear speakers terminals and hide the converter somewhere in the trunk/hatch of your car.

Yea, you can use a line-out converter. Such as http://www.edesignaudio.com/wire_cat.php?catid=43
However, you will lose the fade ability when you hook that up to the rear speaker lines.
