Default s2k smoking like crazy on top end

I was out road racing this weekend and i noticed somthing very strange. On the top end mainly 5th and 6th gear above 7500rpms the car starts smoking like crazy. Are my rings going bad? It doesnt smoke in any of the other gears even if i run it to red line. Im thinking i may need to stop driving it for a while until i can get it checked out. But any sugestions on what could cause it to do that?

2000 S2000, 80K miles, completly stock

greyish whiteish. I asked the same question on s2ki.com and one guy said that the engine is under heavy load in the top gears. Also it doesnt take much blow by under that kind of load for it to seem like its somking really badly.

run a compression test and see if they all check out.

if they don't run a leackdown to find out where the holes are

white smoke might mean ur burning coolant, which could be from a gasket leak. best bet it to run that compression test

Thank you for your excellent automotive technical insight. I think someone should make you the moderator for the "Best way to fix all your problems, car related or otherwise" forum.
