Default Cruise Control: Lights work but not Cruise Control

The CC button and light in the instrument panel light up but the cruise will not take over. The fact the panel lights when the CC button on the steering wheel is pushed leads me to believe that the buttons and fuses are fine. How can I trouble shoot? No error codes are in the computer. I plan to check fuses tonight.
Is there a relay or computer that could be bad?
Any idea of the expense if it is a computer problem?
Thanks.

check the see if the cable to the throttle body and servo are connected and didn't break or was disconnected as since the CC light on the dash means the it's engaged so it's more likely going to be a mechanical problem.

Default Doing it right?

Oh yeah! It's not my first rodeo.
I'll check the cable to see if something is broken.
Thanks.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

sometime it takes more than one try for the cc to engage and u have to be going at a min of around 25-30mph and if u let go the gas pedal before the cc takes over then u will lose speed and it wont engage.
If you are doing it right then I would have to say its a internal problem.
