Supersprint headers??
Hey i have a 1994 EG civic VTI B16A2, and i'm well confused with which header too get. I work in halfords (a car parts/performance parts store for any1 who doesnt know!) and i can get a supersprint header 4-2-1 for a very good price, qualitys good but my only worry is that afew ppl have told me that a 4-1 header is best for high end power and 4-2-1 is best low down power.
My Q is how much differance is high end power going to be better by? are we talking 2bhp top end power on a 4-1? if that is the case how much more power do you get low down better on the 4-2-1? If i can get a good 4-2-1 power-wise i'd rather do this because a 4-1 header will hang lower down to the ground than a 4-2-1, and ive gotta be carefull with this cos my car is slammed and a daily driver!
Also my friend has a H22a 2.2 VTI prelude with same mods as me apart from the tranny, he's just put a 4-2-1 on his when ppl recommended a 4-1 and his seems to be miles better top end power? i used to leave him 1st,2nd and 3rd and we used to be equal in a race in 4th gear, but now he leaves me noticably in 4th and were equalish 1st,2nd and 3rd! My manifold gasket is leaking so i really want to get a header by the end of this month!!
Thanks for any help! ste

Both header types will make power across the whole power band over stock, it's just where the majority of the power will be that's the difference.
I'm unfamiliar with supersprint but from a 30 second glance at their product pictures I think it looks like hell.
Moving on, in the most basic view of things 4-1 headers are better for top end power, which is what you'll want to get with that b16. But the quality and design of the header is more important than whether it's 4-1 or 4-2-1. You could get a crap 4-2-1 and I could put a good 4-1 on there and make more midrange power. It's really up to your budget and power goals but I wouldn't put a header that looked like those supersprints on my car... that looks like the kind of crap DC was putting out in the mid 90s.

Really!!?? i thought they were pretty good and ive had three welders look at the welds and they said they were really good! and they're SUS 304 and mandrel bent plus the have proven dyno figures proving 180bhp with de-cat cat back and manifold (no induction kit etc).
I am really glad you gave me that honest opinion coz its good to have both opinions.
just to make sure i was looking at the 922101 manifold, at www.supersprint.com.
Thanks again for any help!! ste

www.importpowerhouse.com
www.sms-products.com
www.hytechexhaust.com
if you think comptech is expensive you're in for an eye opener with these. making NA power with a honda isnt cheap.

The new DC headers are good but the best one, the JDM 4-1, hangs *very* low and so that will be a problem for you. However, I would definately take a normal DC 4-1 or 4-2-1 over those supersprint headers.
You could also look at a JDM Type R header.

If you could get a Spoon header for the same price as DC I would go Spoon. Toda and Jun also make some nice headers if you can get those cheap.
Here in the states there's a huge ass markup on all the JDM performance parts, so a Spoon header is around a thousand dollars. So like 400-500 pounds.
