Default 60K maintenance

Hello everyone,

My wife's 2003 Accord LX is hitting 60K miles soon and I need to do the followings, need your expertise, please advice on what brand names and where I can get the below items that could save time & money.

(Air filter, brake fluid, steering fluid, sparkplugs, transmission fluid.)

Should I just go to the dealer for these items?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Accord forum.

Always buy OEM unless you like messing up your car. Also, invest in a Helms manual. It makes these jobs much easier.

the best way to save money is to find your self a local mechanic in your area that you can really trust and have them do the tuneup.

youll end up saving hundreds of dollars. Dealers charge double or more what a local mechanic will do!

btw the trasmission replacement is rather cheap even at a honda dealer.

Default 60K miles service

I have '01 Accord EX Manual, and I don't see changing power Steering fluid part of the scheduled maintenance for 60K. Is that necessary?

The power steering fluid isn't part of the maitnence at 60K. I don't know where you are from, but if you are around long island call me I can get you dealer parts and do the job for half the dealer price .

Normally you undo a hose, drain, then refil. But PS fluid isn't a normal scheduled thing. They just say something vague like 'when it gets dirty'...

Hi Soleus! First, how much are you willing to spend? All the parts and work you have on the list are something you can do except ATF flush and refill. My suggestion is buy a manual and find out how to replace all the simple things under the hood. Basic tune up are very simple. Don't be affraid. Get your hand dirty. It's not rocket science. You'll be very happy and feel secure that your wife's car will run for another 60K miles w/ less trouble.
