I am almost finished my LS/Vtec conversion which cost me about $1750 for the complete conversion with doing everything the right way. If you want to do it to make it last this is what I changed:

B16A1 head $550
Golden Eagle Vtec Conversion $220
P28 Chipped ECU $220
Poly engine mounts $40
Skunk2 Cam Gears $150
GSR Water Pump and Belt and Tensioner $110
Type R Oil Pump, Oil Pickup and Windage tray $180
Intake and Exhaust Gaskets $40
MSD Cap with external coil $100
HKS Ground kit $30
Plus some odds and ends like changing old piping and radiator hose, wiring, oil, coolant, silicon, assembly lube.

There are cheaper ways to do the conversion but if you want it to last and run right it is always best to get the right stuff. The must do's is the oil, water and supply which is the most important to get good stuff.
