Default CRX back for 2007!!

Just read this on autoweek:

"The new 2006 Honda Civic, due this fall, is more fun to drive than the car it replaces, our spies tell us, and there will even be a return of the racer’s favorite CRX badge in 2007. That’s not bad news, is it?.....Top of the engine chart is the 200-hp version of the K20 four-cylinder that will power the Civic Si and CRX. Civic Si— the most powerful Civic ever, according to Honda—will bow at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas this November."

Generally AutoWeek posts news that is fairly reliable, and unless I have been blind, I havent seen anything here talking about for sure signs that the CRX is back. What do you guys think?

if they do make a successor to the CRX, i think it should be based on the Fit platform, that way it will stay true to the CRX formula of sporty, fun, and LIGHT!

Too expensive. They should performance up and luxury down the RSX and rebadge it the Prelude. The CRX should be it's own lightweight pocket rocket.

Actually, a new Honda CRX based off the second-generation Honda Fit platform that will be coming in Spring 2006 might not be such a bad idea. From the rumors I've heard about the new Fit, it will be only 20 mm longer than the current car but will have a width of 1695 mm, almost the same as 8th generation Civics. Also, the new R-series engine block is supposed to fit inside the new Fit, so an R18 variant rated at 155 bhp (SAE certified) installed in a modified Fit platform could become the new CRX. And the resulting vehicle could be quite light--we're talking around 2,300 lbs. curb weight, pretty good considering all the safety features Honda will include on the CRX.

I still think the 1.8L is K-series...especially since Honda has gone in perfect alphabetical order with their engines. They have J, K and L now so the next up is M.

Edit: And I'm also concerned the front headlight design encroaches on the TSX/TL too much...one thing Honda doesn't want is resemblance between Acura and Civic.
