Default help with problem please???

First of i have a 97 GSR.. and while idleing it get's stuck at up to 3,200 rpm's. but the weird thing is as im coming to a stop if i throw a rev it will drop down. Does anyone know what i can do too fix this. my uncle suggested getting a throttle postion sensor. but i called the acura dealer and they said i can only buy the whole throttle body which is 750.00 dollers.

also i have about 1,200 dollers to spend on my car. what should i get to improve 1/4 miles times

Give me a few hours until I get home so I can take a look at the service manual to help you out.

As far as getting it quicker, I suggest you spend your money on a better set of tires and suspension instead. If you have anything left over, buy some basic bolt-ons.

OK, according to the factory service manual, the first thing you should check is the idle air control valve. Remove it and clean it out.

If that doesn't help, check for any vacuum leaks from any worn hoses. It may help to test the throttle position sensor, but it doesn't state in the manual to do it and I really don't think that is your problem.
