hatch stuck
ok, im not sure if anyone else has had this problem.
i have a 1998 GSR w/ the hatch release switch thing. problem is that sometimes, im not sure why, the hatch will not open. i pull the lever to the left and the lock doesnt seem to unlock...i can pull and pull but its just stuck...on a lucky day, i may be able to open, but most of the time, its stuck...any idea what could be causing this? or how i can fix it? its driving me nuts

nope...will not open even with a key.
this different from other integras i think...theres no button for me to push/pull to open the trunk...as long as the car is unlocked, i just pull the lever on the hatch and the hatch should open...but its stuck

with my gsr i couldnt figure how to open the hatch, lol. Later on i found in my car i need to have the key in the hatch regardless, turned as though you are unlocking a door, and then slide the lever at the same time while the key is still turned in the hey hole.

LEVEL UP
My buddy is having the same problem with his '99 GSR. We tried putting the key in the lock for the hatch and then turning the key and pulling the latch handle at the same time, with no luck. It's been stuck closed for over a month now...

I have the answers for this one...
First, you have a broken lock actuator assembly. If you want to fix it, check my posts in these two threads...

Especially this one...

You can still open the hatch without fixing the broken actuator (approx. $65) with your key. Turn the key hard clockwise and while holding the key in the turned position lift the hatch with your free hand.
I did this for almost two years before deciding to fix it myself. My posts (linked above) tell you the part # and a place where you can buy it. It's a pretty easy fix once you have the part.
Good luck, I hope this helped. And, for those of you reading along, I'm pretty sure the electric hatch actuator replaced the cable latch/lever near the driver's seat in '98.

I read a post by an Acura technician saying they always replaced the actuator assembly when they came across this problem. I assume he meant if the electronic lock is still working. I can still hear my lock working, so I'm probably going to order part # 74840-ST7-A01 (ACTUATOR ASSY.) from Sunnyside Acura (http://acuraparts247.com) sometime soon (item number 25 in the picture).
