short shifter install
I will probably be installing my skunk2 short shifter and urethane bushings next week. anyone have any advice? What type of lubricant should I use on the urethane bushings, I don't want to deal with sqeeky bushings later on. any advice would help. thanks

some advise? it's pretty straight forward, and remove your b-pipe. it's almost impossible to do it without removing it.

haha. thanks. what kind of grease is compatible with the polyurethane bushings? I know you aren't supposed to use petroleum based lubricants, i think. i know there is some type you can't use because it breaks down the urethane.

sorry for the revival! but i am about to install the parts mentioned. (didn't have the time before) I am going to use general purpose lithium grease for the bushings. Is that ok? didn't get a reply to the above question. Thanks for the help and sorry again for the revival.

You don't need to lubricate the bushings. I didn't lubricate mine and they don't squeak. They don't move enough to squeak, so you can just put them in.

When we installed my short shift, the exhaust was in the way but we didnt remove any part of the exhaust. We just undid the 2 hangers, pushed it over a hair, and the short shift slid right into place

The install isn't a big deal. I am sure you will be able to knock it out in a no time. The general purpose Lithium grease is what I used.........seems to be fine.

i ended up not taking down the b-pipe. didn't want to deal with new gaskets and the like. taking it out was fairly easy. Only ran into a problem getting the poly bushing into the end of the change rod that attaches to the tranny. Tried putting in a vice to press it in and using a bolt set up to pull it in. Then I remembered (after about an hour of fighting with it) That someone on here said if it is giving me a problem then to put it on the ground and step on it. Didn't think it would work but it popped right in. Couldn't believe it! Oh well its all in now and back together. It is a skunk2 dual bend and a set of ES bushings. love it.
