I bought a '87 Prelude si a couple of months ago. I was told at that time that the 5th gear was "out" because a "spring" had been unhooked so that 5th gear would be torn up. It was supposedly making a "rattling" noise before "unhooking" the spring. Supposedly the transmission didn't have to be pulled to "unhook the spring." All of my other gears are fine. Just no 5th. I can shift into 5th, but it's like going into neutral. No grinding. No trouble entering "where 5th gear should be." The person that I bought the car from was going to have the problem corrected, but you know how that goes.......Any ideas??? Great car other than than this probem.
