Hi I have a 99 Prelude.Its got a built motor and its Turbo.Recently the Balance Shaft Geear fell of due to Moron-Mechanics mistake to correctly Torque the bolt down.It broke the keyway on the Shaft so know I hove to remove it and replace it.Its the front one so its going to be a Bitch.IM running the car without the belt at 8 lb of Boost.Anyway I seen some people remove the Belt to free up power or remove the Shaft completely.Can this work?Thanx for your imput.

I know it works and it makes the engine rev up a little faster but as to how to do it i have no clue...that probably didnt help much though.

IF you want your oil pressure to go to Zero, and fry your engine, then sure. If you want oil pressure, and a good running engine, then drive carefully.

Actually Ive heard of this being done numerous times.Just recently in Honda Tunning Magezine where they removed the Balance Shaft Belt.There suppouse to be some vibration but minimal and as far as the oil pressure in the H22 it is suppouse to be better without the Balance Shafts,they infact are anything but a good thing as far as Performance is concerned for the rest of the motor with heat,more rotating mass amongs other things and supposely are there only to reduce the motor vibration for Driver Comfort being that the Prelude was the Luxury Coupe in the Honda Line up at the time it came out.

Yeah, the only reason they are in there is to reduce vibrations. Unhooking them free up a couple ponies. I'd rather have my smooth running engine though.

you can take them out, you just leave out the bearings for them and do not line them up with the holes for the oil. The reason the oil pressure would go down is because the oil holes would be pushing oil into the engine and it wouldnt be going anywhere but if you plug the holes by leaving the shafts themselves in, just not spinning and taking away power, youll have oil pressure and a little more power.

So besically I could just leave them in without the belt on?

Yes you can leave them in with the belt off. If you want to pull them out you have to pull the motor.
