Save your money and buy a Miata
If you're buying an S2000 for speed, you're a misinformed customer, sheltered and making a mistake. Sure, you can claim it's a roadster and not a dragster, but that's what anyone that is slow will say. That excuse always falls as a neighboring category of excuses to "Well, my car handles better." Yea, your car handles so well because you're only going 40 mph.
I test drove one today and laughed out loud after reading some write-ups on how it's almost like a turbo kicks in past 6k. It's a remarkable car on paper, but not on the pavement. I give them props for all the extracted horsepower, but holy **** it's slow. I'm sure on a long distance track, the V-TEC serves a purpose, but unless you're heading to another galaxy - don't expect to be impressed.

I'll admit, you need to flog an S2000 to get it to perform acceleration-wise. My guess is you got a busted one to test drive or just don't know how to properly drive one.
One cannot form an opinion of a car based on a 30min. (probably less, going by this review) test drive.

Miata's can be very capable race cars actually. They have their own series and can dominate SCCA ITA club racing with a good driver.
Dream: The S series name has been used by Honda since the 60s, the number after it designates the engine size. S2000 therefore is a 2.0 S series car. Unfortunately Honda broke their own rule by not renaming 2004+ cars as the S2200.
So we can all move on now with the knowledge that Dream doesn't like the S2000. That shouldn't affect anyone's personal life.

yes!
Also.............thats an extremely good time for an S2k............sure some have hit it but that doesn't mean its the norm..............like I could say Supras run a 12.9 bone stock............because a few have...........but thats not really the truth, truth is most stock supras run about a 13.3, see where I'm going with this?

most 2000-2003 s2000 run 13.9-14.1
most 2004-2005 s2000 run 13.8-14.0
these are realistic times
road and track got a 13.8 with the 2004 s2000
any driver who doesnt suck can do this
if you cant drive, thats not our problem
the s2000 is only 30k and it competes with many 50k cars for handling and track times
if this car is slow, explain why it was rated number 5 of 10 cars in road and track for best sports car, when its competition was 2-3 times the price
there isnt a new car on the market right now for 30k that outhandles the s2000, and there are few that run a 13.8 either
the sti is 33k, the evo is 33k, the evo mr is 36k......and news flash, they are fastest on the drag, but not any faster on the highway and dont handle as well as the s2000, they have cheesy interior, shit reliability
for 30k, you cant beat the overall bang you get from the s2000
