Default H22 Swap or Rebuild H23?

Ok so i messed up a few things on my lude, my crankshaft is basically gone broken, so my mechanic was like just get a new motor, he could get me a H22 Vtec for about $800.00 w/ no ECU or wiring harness so i was going to do so, but then one of my team mates was like well just remove ur h23 and rebuilt all the internals, new pistons, new rings bore out the motor, new cams and alot of sweet new parts to my H23 wich would get a few more ponnies, so i dont know what to do exactly. What would be the best thing to do. what do u guys thing??? also what should i do to my internals

It all depends on how much the rebuild will cost. I know the H23 has more tq, not sure of the difference of hp/tq in H22 vs H23. Also which do you like better VTEC or non VTEC. I personally would get the H22 , more fun w/ VTEC. Also, one other thing I believe you can consider is do your H23 rebuild w/ all the parts your buddy said & throw a H22 head on. I'm sure you can do the same like the B series motors. Good luck

Well its gonna cost about the same, but i think i might just rebuild and the later throw a v tec head on i know that we are going to put a hole like on the side to then lter on add a v-tec head off a Jap Accord.. still pondering..

H22. I was in the same boat as you. I am SOOO happy I went with the H22. I replaced all the seals, gaskets, water pump, oil pump, timing belt, and switched to the H23 manual timing belt tensioner. I couldn't be happier.

for internals for your h23 make that sucker invinceable go to crower.com parts are not cheep by any means. but you could have a full race build then go turbo later. if you got the money and the time i would go that way. if you just want a few more ponies for the time being might as well just swap to the h22.

If you have the money, just rebuild the h23 from top to bottom and boost.
