2006 Lexus IS250 & IS350

Apathy Kills
I think this new IS shows great promise.
I like it, especially the side elevation and 3/4 views.
I'd take about 2 inches off the bottom edge of the grille, but that's it.
And thank God they put "normal" - looking taillights on this model.
Hopefully the "Altezza" trend will finally begin to die off.

Lexus will give its BMW 3 Series-fighting IS model new sheetmetal and an all-new drivetrain for 2006. Lexus rolled out the second-generation sedan at the Geneva motor show, revealing details of a non-U.S.-market 2.2-liter diesel powerplant, but keeping information on the U.S.-bound 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine under wraps until the car’s late-March North American debut in New York.
Sources indicate the IS 250’s V6 will produce about 205 hp compared with the current car’s 3.0-liter 215-hp inline six. In New York, Lexus also will announce a 3.5-liter 245-hp V6, but so far there is no indication of a production version of the V8 under the hood of the IS concept LF-C that debuted at last year’s show. IS 250 styling reflects the LF-C concept, although Lexus isn’t likely to offer an IS in the LF-C’s coupe body style.
- From Autoweek.com
I'm confused, is the new IS coming with a 3.0L or a 3.5L? And whats the output? We've been hearing speculation of 300+hp, but the article posted by MrFatBooty and the one from Autoweek state about 245hp. I seriously doubt Lexus will field the new IS with such a powerful engine, considering the GS300 falls well below 300hp.

The engine in the IS300 is the 3GR-FSE 3.0 liter V6 which is also in the GS300.

I don't get Lexus. The ES330 has a 3.3 liter engine. The IS350 will have a 3.5L engine. Why is it that the GS300 is getting a smaller engine than the both of those? I understand that they want to have differentiation between the the v6 and v8, but they could've just detuned. the larger engine would've probably made the car even smoother and at the same time would've given the car more torque. At 260hp there would still be a difference of 40hp over the gs430. As for the IS350, if it comes with a manual transmission and is comperable to the G35 in terms of output...I might just wait for it. Otherwise, I plan on gettin a g35 6mt in about a month or so.

read the thread again. it's a 3.0L not 3.5L.
