will an h22 tranny work with an f22b engine?

yesh, i think you need some sort of newfangled flexplate tho

no clue, just check the numbers on the gear ratios if you can find them, all i know is they are similar enough to be swapped

Correct me if i'm wrong, but since the H22 redlines higher if you mate it to an F22 you'll be a bit quicker in acceleration, but when you're crusing at like 80MPH you'd be doing like 4k RPM (In my F23 at 80MPH I'm at like 2,900-3000RPM) which would end up being harder on the engine since it isn't made to redline as high as the H22.

i.e. I think the H22 redlines at like 7500 with fuel cut off around 8000, the F23 redlines at 6300.

I may be an idiot, so help me out if I'm wrong

All the F&H trannies should be interchangeable except for the f20c from the S2K. The advantage being shorter gear ratios means quicker acceleration, with the downside of your rpms will be higher up when cruising on the highway.
