Backpressure is an age-old debate. Get a muffler either way, it's a public service for your community.

Yes backpressure is needed. unless you car has a hell of a lot of power (which I doubt it) the back pressure will help the bottom end. So you are saying that you have no cat or nothing? just exhaust manifold, downpipe, and then a pipe to the back? Do you notice your car reving to about 2K before it actually starts rolling at the stop lights, and sounding like you are trying to fly while you're only going 20 mph? That's your car telling you it's dying trying to get up and go.

if it was good for the car to not have one. then honda would be saving alot of money to manufactor their cars w/ no mufflers.
How can a muffler sound koo without a muffler and or cat.?
That would drive me up the walls hearing it inside my car.

I would get a magnaflow cat back although they are expensive they sound extremely clean and they get some nice gains. I had one on my 94 honda accord when I had it and when it idled everyone was like holy crap, no farting noise here.
