Default 97 Accord DX oil

I'll be doing an oil/filter change on a friend's 97 Accord DX. I'm not sure if there is an owners manual in the car, and I'm just wondering how much oil the book says to put back in. I did some online reserching and read that the non-vtec engines only take four qts, is this true, all the Accords I have owned have been vtec with 4.5 qts, I'd rather know how much to put in instead of adding a little at a time.

I used to think I needed 4.5 quarts in my 95, until I got a haynes manual and learned that the non-vtec only needs 4. I was surprised about that too.
