no o2 sensor bung on dc header..
i recently purchased a dc header from the local speedshop. right after i purchased it i was busy installing it, but i noticed that there is no o2 sensor on the header. i thought dc headers came with o2 bungs. and what in the hell do i do with the exhaust manifold o2 sensor? as a temporary fix i plugged the exhaust manifold o2 sensor into the cat coverter, and moved the 1st cat converter o2 sensor to the back of the cat. the 2nd cat o2 sensor i just tied onto a bar to keep it from dragging or getting in the way. how long do u guys think i could go like this while keeping the engine healthy? i know i have to switch my header or get a bung welded into it but time is limited right now. just wanted to know how much time i had. sorry for the long post, thnx in advance..
also i have a OBD2 b18c1

been there done that
do you have a CEL with that 3rd o2 sensor not plugged in? you'll be in limp mode if it is.
are you sure its a real DC header? i dont see why they wouldnt put an o2 bung on there.

you have a Calafornia spec exhaust with a non cal header i know becuase i had this same problem. I don't know what all the differences are but i KNOW that CA models have the O2 in the header while others have it in the Cat.

Apathy Kills
My bet is you were sold a OBD-1 header by mistake. h:
The best long-term solution is to replace this header with one that has a o2 bung in the collector just ahead of the catalytic converter flange.

My 96 with OBD2 has both bungs in the catalytic converter. It is totally normal to not have a bung in the header. I had one in and there was no problems.

thnx for the responses, ill try to get it fixed asap.
as for my CEL..yes its on, but i dont feel much of a difference in acceleration (yet...?)
if i get a bung welded into my header, will i have to spray some non-rust shit onto it where they welded? since its a ceramic header (yes yes, stainless will last forever but couldnt find none around here)
shmoo will i be running rich by not having the 3rd o2 sensor in? (the 2nd cat. converter o2 sensor)
apologies for the amount of questions, im just afraid to eff up my car its supposed to last me thru the rest of high school and thru college
thnx, learn new things on this site everyday ;D

i have 01 gsr and i too had that issue a 4 to1 dc header, that is meant for integra, but i believe the 2000 and 2001 have the OBD 2, so there for u have a o2 sensor in the header, and one in the cat, where the previous models did not, if u are not worried about smog then just alter the header and a muffler shop they can put the nub in for u so u can screw it in, if u are then get a new header, cause u won't pass smog, under the EPA no aftermarket part with a CARB sticker can be altered.
