Default 01-05 civic hx's good?

im thinkin of buyin a 01-05 civic hx cause 1. want to get out of the honda street racing scene. 2. a few times out of every month i need to drive 2 hours each way to go to my girls college, so want better gas mileage. (i get about 30 mpg highway with my EJ coupe, I/H/E takes off a whole lot of gas mileage )

anyone here has the 01-05 hx? whats the mpg you guys be getting with the 5 speed manual? and is the acceleration good at all? i know it has VTEC but its still a SOHC and a D series, which means no power at all . I dont want a car thats really slow to the point that i cant pass people on the freeway but not too powerful like a GSR or something, since i want to get out of that racing stuff. any feedback would be nice.

since when does I/H/E take off a whole lot of gas milage?

bleh, anyways, one of my best friends had an 01 hx. Was a pretty good car, he had it for about 45k before breaking a tranny fork, and getting fcuked by honda because he had I/H/E on it.

get the accord hybrid, it has 255hp and you still get about 30-35 mpg :chuckles:

LOL.... those are nice but a tad too pricey... like 30k after tax for a used one.

i have an 01 ex coupe... but i almost bought an 02 lx sedan... and from what i know from the test drive is that both felt quick enough even with the horse power difference between them.. and it really easy to do 70mph in mine with only a cold air intake on it.... i havent really checked my gas milage but i took a trip form poughkeepsie to yonkers ( a 1hr and 15 min trip if you dont know) and that was two days ago and im back home and not even at the half way mark on my gas gauge.

i dont think I/H/E effects the gas milages... its the driver that controls how much gas he/she uses (ie hard braking/accelerating etc) , but thats just my opinion
