Default Hondata

I was looking into a chip for my ecu and hondata was the only one I looked at so far. Is hondata a good mod for a stock d16y8?

Are there any other performance chips out there?

your not really going to make any type of a gain with a chip mod unless your motor has something done to it.. (forced induction)

I don’t have forced induction but I have intake/intake-manifold/header/header back exhaust, some other misc stuff.

Performance chips wont help at all?

yea, your engine is able to breath a little better now but, you won't get a noticable difference from a chip with those mods. I'd save your cash.

Hondata is extreme overkill for an otherwise stock motor. Plus, it's not some magical thing you just duct tape to your ECU and you suddenly have a huge increase in power. You have to have it installed on your ECU board, then you need to find a tuner or someone that has all of the equipment to flash the chip with the tune each time a change is made, but they must also have the software necessary to do so. There's a lot to it.

What's the point in doing cheap mods? Paint your interior, that's cheap. You could even get some hubcap spinners... haha.

Seriously dude, save your money and mod your car with worth while mods. Don't mod it just to do something to it. I've been in your shoes man, and I know how it feels. But if I could go back and save my money instead of buying the stupid things I did I would.

:edit: and regarding 'performance' chips, run away from them as fast as possible. I'm sure you've heard 'too good to be true', well those are exactly that. They are not a good mod, don't waste your time or your money on them.

Nitrous can be used effectively, but I personally do not prefer it. It is dangerous and can ruin your motor. Seriously, save your $$. I wanna see pics of your car too, btw. h:

I would get a turbo kit but I already wasted too much money on this car. Im thinking of selling this car and getting a teg and buying a turbo kit for it. I want to keep the look of the car stock so you don’t have people calling you a ricer. LoL!

How much would you guys pay for my 98 civic ex? It has 82k miles
body kit. Looks a little ghey because there’s only one exhaust and two grooves.
stock type R spoiler
motogi 17" wheels
tein stech springs with kyb agx shocks
fake carbon fibertaillights from ebay still look very nice though.
I have no hood I removed it because I thought it would improve airflow!
car has no paint yet
