top speed with stock motor
My cousin have a 89 Civic Si with the stock 108 hp motor. The question he asked me was does the Si motor suppose to top out at 100 mph . I'm not sure, never drove mine that fast when I had the sohc motor. Thanks if anyone can help my cousin out. Gingas

I have an 88 crx si which I think is the same motor as the civic, and a couple of days ago I hit 110, I've been in another crx where the needle hit 120 and the car still kept going. .......and the car is completely stock.

Thanks I'll let cuzz know, but that's wild because I have a B16A1 in my 91 Civic Si , although somehow the guys who did my swap, somehow recieved a automatic ecu instead of a manual B16 ecu. Mine only top out at 110 & I have more hp than a sohc si motor 108 hp. I'm getting mine chipped soon so It'll top out much more. I really don't like to drive that fast on the street anything can happen, besides I'm married so I want to get old with my wife. I just deal with the track. Becareful out their at those speeds. Especially cops, insurance & your life. Enjoy the power, be safe!! hollar at your boy, Gingas

gearing plays more of a role in the top speed then power to a certain extent.
A stock civic has enough power to push to 130mph, but if your running 20" tall tire you may run out of rpm before you get there.

Well I do have 205-55-15's instead of 205-50-15's. But I should still be able to get pass 110. I think the auto B16A auto ecu has a big part to do with it, but than again alot of people with JDM B16's in the 88-91 civic's, crx says they only top out at 115. Gingas
