Default possible intake manifold issue.

Hey Everyone, For a little while now i been trying to get an issue resolved with my car. ... its a stock 1996 Integra GSR b18c. And somewhere around 7 months ago i had my clutch replaced and noticed that vtec in my car only kicks at 5,800 rpms .. and i found out that my intake manifold has a dual stage system and that the first stage isn't engaging ... is there anyone else out there that might have any suggestions as to why my vtec isn't kicking at 4,500 rpms .. oh yah and it eats oil like there's no tomorrow since my vtec hasn't been working right.... so i've been driving it like a granny I'd greatly appreciate any feedback anyone could give me.

thx.

hey man how do u know its not kicking in? check ur vtec solenoid. its on the pass side on the side of ur cylinder head i believe if its engaging at 5800 rpms then it should be engaging at 4500 i believe it uses the same solenoid but i could be wrong.... excessive oil consumption does not sound vtec related issue. do u have a lot of some out of ur exhaust? or does oil drip on ground?

vtec engages at 4400. secondaries in the i/m engage at 5800. if its eating oil that could be the reason vtec isnt engaging. vtec relies on oil pressure.

there is no second stage of vtec, bro.

there's vtec at 4400 and the intake secondaries, which has nothing to do with vtec, at 5800.

again, vtec relies on oil pressure to engage. if you're eating oil, find out whats causing that first.
