Default B20b?

Is the B20B a good engine, if so, will it fit into a 94 civic ex?

b20 is a b18 overbored to 84mm with a b16 non vtec head. it's a good engine for just the swap, alot of torque that the ohter b-series are missing

the B20 head is the WORST flowing honda head out there and since the block is bored to 84mm the cylinder walls are pretty thin

its the same head as the b18b...and if you arent boosting it, then the thinner walls isnt really a big concern

the top short block is a B20b from a JDM stepwagon. (not available in the US)
the bottom block is a B16a from a JDM EK civic sir. notice the webbing on the B16a is more substantial. its really buildt for high RPM. the B20 doesnt have piston squirters which also limits its ability to perform at hi RPM.
you cant tell by these pics but the B20 cylinder walls are thicker than the B16as if you measure them but they are "thinner" relative to the size of the piston and stroke.

This B20 will be rebuilt and put into my 92 JDM Civic Sir II. i love the B16a but I need more torque which is real world street power. The B16a just doesnt have much torque because of its short stroke.

hope this helps

b20 sleeves are not bored b18 sleeves.. they are a webbed cast sleeve design, which is completely different from all other b series engines, and is prone to cracking at high compression/rpm levels
