Default Break-in oil low at 2150 miles

I'm curious if this is normal and what should I expect from dealership as next steps. Thx.

I would see what other people think, but I believe this is normal - the oil soaks into the seals of the engine. How low do you mean when you say low?

The level reads at the top of the lowest x just above the low level line. There are 5 x's from the low line to the high line. I'm hopping that it stops it's steady drop at this point as I'd like to keep the break-in oil as long as is normal.

Have you noticed any leaks anywhere? If it's new, then it certainly wouldn't be burning oil. Anyone else want to chime in?

Don't worry, this is normal. It doesn't happen to all S2000s, but it does happen enough to be considered normal. After you change your oil one or two times it shouldn't be doing it anymore.

Yep, this is totally normal. The F20 (or F22) will use up, especially during break in. And even after the break in period, sustained periods of driving in VTEC engagement will use oil also. This is not only a characteristic of Honda's high performance engines, but a characteristic of high performance engines in general.

Have you considered adding some oil to make it full. It is your responsibility to add oil, not the dealers. Break in oil needs to be augmented before it is changed in almost all S2000s. Just use a 10-30 dino oil like Castrol GTX 10-30. Don't run it low.

It is normal for any new engine to use a bit of oil for a few thousand miles until the engine is broken in and the rings are fully seated.

Thanks to all for your time. I had the dealer tech expert take a look at it 2 weeks ago and he suggested that I not worry about it until it drops to between the low line and the L on the dip stick. He'd like to keep break-in oil in as long as possible. I just drove it 400 miles yesterday and it moved from the 1 notch above the low line to the line line itself. I will call him again tomorrow.
