1999 TL shifter into 98 Accord?
Do you guys think a 99 TL shifter will fit in a 98 Accord? I mean, it looks to be in the exact same spot, and it's a four speed unit. The only thing that connects the shifting gate to the tranny is the shift cable...so I'm wondering, would it fit? Obviously the sportshift wouldnt work, but it'd look cool as hell. Please give me your opinions, thanks. BTW, I'm looking at the black leather shifter, not the wood one.

Obviously the sportshift wouldn't work. I'm asking if you think it'll fit, not if you'd do it yourself. It's not a very difficult thing to install, I've had mine apart before. Thanks.

Does the Accord have a gated shifter also? The reason I ask is because the TL shift knob does not have the shift release button on it as the gate acts as a safety lockout in itself.

I dunno, I really think it's gonna work. Even if it doesn't I'd regret not at least trying to fit it in. The hard part will be taking the old assembly out.

Yeah I've driven sportshift, it's alright. It wouldnt work on my car because I'd need new transmission software and stuff, I just want the cool shiftgate.
The only thing that concerns me is the front of the assembly...on my car, the plastic ends right infront of the shifter. On the TL, it extends. I think I'll end up having to hack that off. The other thing im worried about is the height...it's be a bitch cutting off some of the bottom to make it shorter to allow it to fit in.
EDIT: Nevermind! As I look at my helms manual, my asembly also extends in the front. In fact, it looks to be the EXACT same design. Hopefully it's the same height, and I'm the first to do this in an Accord

I guess I'll put a little metal bar over the sportshift gate entry so the shifter doesn't accidentally get knocked over there.
