Default Wheel Width, Offset, Tire Size for 18s on 6th Gen V6

My sister is going to be getting some 18s for her 98 V6 coupe. I searched around but I want to get some opinions before we buy. What wheel widths can fit? 7.5 for sure, but what about 8 or 8.5? What offset? Is +42 okay? Is 225/40/18 the best tire size?

42 and up is a good offset and from 225/40/18 on a 42 offset will rub if droped about 1.5 inches or more but with stock height u'll be ok and prob. get away w/ less offset wheels and wider tires if height is left stock. but with that tire profile just 43 - 45 offset and u'll be fine if u gonna drop it.

to be on the safe side I would stick with a 7.5 wheel and a 45 offset with the 225-40-18

I would have to agree. Just be glad that she has 5 lugs, cause you have a lot more choices than us 4 bangers.

I have 18 x 7.5, +42 offset, not lowered and I rub in the rear occassionally. Due in part to my 235/40ZR/18 tires.

thanks for the replies.

she has prokits with koni SP3s. the fronts are one perch lower and the rears are on the top perch because of the weight of her system. i'm guessing the front is dropped around 1.75-2" and the rear is 1.5-1.75". she's looking at the one piece Racing Hart CRs which are 18x7.5 with +42 offset. is rubbing more likely because of her drop? or should we look for a wheel with +45 offset? i got the specs here: http://www.hartwheels.co.jp/cat_0308...block_spec.htm
