Default 2004 auto trans design flaws?

I personally just bought a 2004 manual, but a friend is about to buy an auto. I read about the 2003's having auto trans problems. But now i've read about 2004's also having problems with the automatics and that theres a recall on them. Is this true that the 04's also have problems, and do you think if he waits till the 05's are out he'll be ok?

Thanks. Seems the 4 cylinder models of any year are not affected. So if he gets a 4 he should be ok, plus he'll likely get an 05' so i would imagine theres no way he could have a problem. Plus the fact that they said only EARLY 04's. Thanks for the link.

you never know if the 05's will have the problem... because this issue has been around for more than a couple years.. and it should never had made it into the 7th gen at all...
