sounds like it could be your CV joints.
IF your axle was broken your car isnt moving anywhere.

If one was broken im sure you could drive but you will notice the power being shift over to the functioning axle.

Better yet get under your car and look at them.

If the noise has gotten progessivly louder of the last few months I would also say it's your CV joints. I drove on 'bad' CV joints for over 6 months (don't recommend it though), the noise just just got louder and louder when I turned.

It might be broken, but definately not broked.

Try reading this. I didn't read it all (don't have time) but it might help.

actually if the axle was broken the car would not move at all since power is transferred to the path of least resistance.....this even happens on LSD trannys. Trust me I just got done replacing my axle that pretty much shattered due to manufacturer defect.

As to the clicking noise it is most likely a CV as was stated but it is easier and cheaper to just replace the entire axle. Total replacement time using a Haynes manual as your guide and basic hand tools is about 45 minutes max. Simple driveway wrenching job even if you have never done it before.

Yep, I just replaced an axle on my wife's civic last weekend. Bought a lifetime warrenty reman axle for $70. When it's that cheap, it's not worth trying to dissamble the axle, repack a new boot, etc.
