well, what do you mean by not run? like it wont start? check engine light on? runs bad?

I am just curious as to what experiences others have had with Bad ecu's... what they have done. I highly doubt a bad ECU is fixable, is it?

no it's not really fixable the car may or may not start, and depending on what is bad with the ecu it may just run really shitty. Not sure about the CEL.

you can tell if you have a bad ECU, if it goes out late at night, and robs liqour stores, and wont split the winnings with you. or if you hit the brakes, and the car accelerates.

if your ecu is dead you'd be throwing a code 0, believe me, I've had it happen.

Heheh... code 0. You're right, too. Can you describe how to count the blinks for that one?

If you have a bad ECU, then when you turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine, the CEL doesn't light up for 5 seconds like it normally does, and is supposed to. That light is an indicator that it's going through a test routine. No light=failed test routine.

Some ECUs can be fixed. It depends on what's wrong with them. On DSMs, 90-92 turbo ECU's suffer from a few weak capacitors, which can be replace, and the ECU will work fine afterwards.
