Ok, my friend has a 97 GSR in his 95 Civic EX. I beleive the 97 GSR is OBD-II, right?

He's still running off of his stock ECU, will he need an OBD-II or OBD-I ECU?? I know the GSR ECU's are P72, buit how can you tell the year of ir and the OBD? Also will it connect fine to his stock civic harnesses?

97 integra is OBDA (not that you needed to know this.)

There are OBD2 and OBD1 P72, you are correct. The P72 is the only ecu that will controlt the secondary intake runners (IABs).

You may have to wire your secondaries differently for an OBD2 motor, some generations are positively triggered, some are ground triggered. I forget, search.

well did you back wire the 97 motor to obd1 or not...if you did then you need an obd1 ecu. If you upgraded the whole obd1 civic to obd2, then you need an obd2 ecu

How would I know if I backwired the motor?? I just used the harnesses that came from the 97 GSR. My car is still obd1

You need an OBD I P72 ECU from a '94-'95 Integra GS-R. They're a little hard to find but if you look, you'll eventually find one. If you have a P28 SOHC VTEC ECU you can also have that rechipped to run a stock DOHC VTEC program but I've never used one so I can't say how well they work. In the link PhiZ posted, the 3rd one down is the one you want.
