Transmission problem when in reverse

Transmission problem when in reverse
Every morning I would back out of my parking space. As I shift into reverse, the gear engages with a sharp jerk or "bang", so violent that the whole car is jolted backwards. I have to step really hard on the brake so as to reduce this jerk.
What could be the problem? Low tranny fluid? Something wrong with the tranny?

Well to me if this happens every morning when it's cold your car is idling pretty high to get the car warmed up fast. If you shift into reverse, this will cause what you explained to happen. If this happens when tha car is warmed up, you probably have a idle that's too high or your car has so much torque. Have a technician check line pressure if this is an automatic tranny, I assume it is a automatic. Also check Throttle valve if it is equip with one.
