turbo setup worth it?
hey guys, i came across this offer from an acquaintance of mine. hes selling his turbo kit for 500 bucks. he was asking more, but i guess he needs the money since he lost his job.
heres the setup.
-t3 turbo, internal wastegate, seems like to shaft play, no cracks at all. didnt get a chance to see the turbine to check for chips and what not. he claims less than 100 miles on the turbo.
-hks ss bov
-no name brand intercooler
- OBX turbo manifold, the wastegate flange has been welded shut.
- all oil lines necessary
-crap piping, no FMU.
this is coming off an ls/vtec setup, and going onto a b18b1. what do you guys think? should i go thru with this?

I wouldn't, it sounds pretty ghetto.........and for 500 bucks you can get yourself a decent manifold and then if you are strapped for cash just buy an old DSM turbo to hold you over. Also if the wastegate is welded shut......that is a serious problem. Turbos with shaft play have to be rebuilt anyways, if you ask me I'd say don't do it.

Still here... sorta...
I agree AND if you plan to run that turbo on your dseries, be prepared for some disappointing times, especially if you only plan to run a few pounds. Get a 15G or something like that. You will be much happier.

I would say get a new manifold and a wastegate before you put it on your engine. I mean turbo can be dangerous as it is but that is asking to break shit.
