B18C1 engine wont rev past 6500rpm
Couldn't find answers thru search so I'll just ask......
Ocassionally my 92 hatch with GSR swap wont rev past 6500rpm. It acts just as if its hiting the rev limiter, it sputters at 6500rpm and wont go past. Then I'll turn the car off and wait 5 min. and it will rev back up to 8200rpm.
Anyone know what's causing this and how I can fix it?
thanks
scott

CEL and codes
well, my CEL is permanently on (yes im one of those guys) since my knock sensor and 02 sensor are not hooked up. (I plan to remedy that).
What does code 22 mean? Where can i go to find out what all the codes are? Also, how do i flash them out? Thanks

HOW TO CHECK
#5
Is that when Vtec engages on that motor? If so check your oil level, it wont engage without enough oil. That happened to my f23 before it wouldnt engage when i was on the highway, i pulled off and my oil was low, once I topped it off everythign went fine. Yet it wasnt low enough to trigger the idiot light.

And fix those CELs because they tell you when there is a problem with your motor.

wow - Honda is so smart
...and im so stupid.
holy crap. i just checked the oil before i even read the posts (coincidence or Honda-Acura ESP?) the oil was 2 quarts low! i just bought the car about a month ago and was going to change the oil this weekend, but i checked it today at the gas station and realized i had been driving it with low enough oil to trigger the 22 code, but not set off the lop light. i since then added 2 quarts and its been running fine.
so im a little freaked out i hope i didn't cause any damage. once i get a honda oil filter, im changing the oil this weekend. guess i shoulda done it right after i bought the car. just to be sure.....these gsr motors take about 4.75 quarts right?
thanks a lot for the help. you guys are the best. i sure hope i didn't do any serious damage. im really liking this honda thing. i cant wait to autox it and do some hpde days with nasa.
