i have a 94 Ls integra and i need a tranny. right now its between a gsr or an ls tranny. what would be better do to if i plan on working on the engine??? whats the difference in the transmissions??

The LS and GSR trannies have the same first and second gear, but the GSR has shorter gearing after that. But i don't know the exact numbers. If you plan on boosting, i'd go with the LS, the longer gearing would allow the turbo to spool longer. If N/A's your game, i'd go with the GSR. What's the price difference?

WHy in the hell would you want the turbo to take longer to spool?

I have had both on my old turbo b18a1 setup and have to say the gsr is better. Keeps the revs high and feels more peppy.

the final drive is different though so if you calculate the final drive x gear ratio you will see that they are not the same.

personally, id probably make some kind of gsr/ls hybrid transmission.

what are you going to be doing with this engine? i currently use a gsr tranny with my ls engine, and i pull on ls's like nothing.

A GSR tranny in my LS was in my planbook for a while, but it would seem difficult to find a decent used GSR tranny that hasn't been abused. How about a b16? Would a tranny off a B16 work just as well as a GSR tranny? Just some ideas.

im going with a Jdm b16 cable tranny myself. it has good short gears. its good for n/a but not good for turbo cars.

b16 trannies have even shorter gear ratios, i wouldnt be able to stand them, theyre so short. it would be good for a track car, but i dont like the idea of 5k rpms for just driving on the freeway. i would put a gsr in, and while youre doing it upgrade your flywheel, and check your clutch and maybe replace that aswell.
