Civic Flywheel/Clutch Install (58 pics)
#11
no matter how many write ups i see, nothing can convince me to do a flywheel and clutch install for anyone.
i'd rather do a swap. every flywheel and clutch install i've done has been nightmareish.

Nice write up man. I think you hit everything on the head! The only thing I'm still scratching my head with is, that clutch fluid was NASTY. Drain that shit and start from scratch. You'll get a much better pedal feel! And all that rust and grat can eat at the seals on the master and slave cylinders...

How critical is it to use 'clutch' fluid over 'brake' fluid?
Bumnah: This was actually the easiest of these I've done. Nothing bound or broke or just 'happened'. I was very happy about that.

we were doing a flywheel and clutch fix, and the clutch masters bolts stripped (hex). so we tried to drill, and the drill bit broke inside the bolt. so we're there with this motor being held up by my floor jack, stripped bolt on the clutch flywheel assembly, and a broken drill bit inside the bolt. it's about 2 am, and i got just one day to fix this car and have it back on the road.
flywheel and clutch installs..... they can go to hell! :madfawk:

to this day i do not understand why people pull the speend sensor to fill up the tranny, especially when they have the filler bolt out.
why? why? fill it up from the top?

Seems to me that they need to be replaced, which they will be after about the other 5 grand worth of stuff is done to my car. Just like a lot of other stuff, it is on my list.
Just not enough time or money for this stuff right now. I could have paid the car off with all the stuff that I have bought for it in the last month!!
