maint reqd
ok yesterday i was drivin normally and the maint req light jus turned red...now i am scared to drive my car...i havent gotten a tune up in a while..like since i got the car back in july...could it just be a need a tune up or is it something else? i have about 87xxx miles on my car...what are the reasons this usualy comes on...it seems like my car is running fine...it has oil and everything else...any help would be appreciated...cuz i live far from any decent place to get my car looked at...just wanted to have an idea b4 i go........mainly cuz funds are low...and if its somethin expensive i will not be able to pay for it...

Are you talking about the check engine light or the little maintenence bar by the tach?
If its the little maintenence bar by the tach then it does that every 3,000 miles or so as per regualr maintenence schedule from the factory.
If its the Check Engine light then run the code on it and see what comes up.
My bet is you mean the regular maintenence bar and in that case i can't help but :lmfao:

any have any pix or anything that shows names and locations of belts? i see one of my belts and it looks bad i am trying to figure out which one it is
maybe an online haynes manual for 97 accord?

if its the light under tach, you insert your key into little hole on side of tach. and it goes away. it just means you have so many miles on your car for sceduled mantince

And if it does happen to be the CEL, you can go to autozone and they'll hook up a coder and check the code for free vs having to go to honda or a garage and spending money to get it checked.
