Default F23A4 power range

Is it just me, or does the F23 have really crappy low end torque and only hauls after about 3500 rpms...even with bolt onsm which seem to react volatiliy according to california weather.
Currently thinking of trading in for 7th gen I-4 5spd Accord coupe. Will i get a better power range? Specs say that it only beats the 6th gens by 10hp/tq, but im thinking the power band has got be way better then the previous f23...

umm it's a 4 cylinder honda, if you wanted a 4 banger with torque you should not have bought a honda. you obviously haven't driven a civic with a D16 either.

if your going to go through the trouble of trading in your car for 10hp, think again. the 7th gens are heavier and the difference in power isn't going to be worth the cost. now if traded it for a V6 or something it will be worth it. you should have bought a V6 or another car in the first place if you wanted lowend power so badly.

with the header and larger exhaust piping on there, you are losing some of your backpressure. once exhaust gasses start building up, at around 3500 in your cases (they begin to increase sooner than that obviously) more back pressure is created giving you the power. on my old 5th gen, it was really obvious when i took off my header and exhaust when returning the car to stock. this was on an f22, so its not that much different than the f23. now i have a 6th gen with the f23. its by no means "torquey", but low end doesnt seem too bad, but then again, everything is stock for the time being. hopefully that explains the situation

just get used to the higher rpm's. Hondas can handle them and its not bad for the car. U have a manual so its easy to keep it in the power range. I usually shift between4-5k rpm when cruising and at 6k when trying to get somewhere fast. Shift it from first to second at WOT at 6k rpm and u will be rewarded with a chirp and nice pickup.

I want more torque!!! My myom's Altima has more, shall I say, oomph off the line. And there's sure enough torque to climb steep hills in 3rd/4th with power. My car is no dog but it's just lacking some low end.

your VTEC should be kicking in after 4500rpm try taking it in that range you will feel it . i raced a BMW 325 what ever they are it was my firends and i was like i will smoke you. i swear to what ever yo guys want i smoked him till the second gear by a car length. my car is and I4 and that shit was a V6 so i'm proud of my honda BY the way i have smoked they i have even smoked the new 2003 altimas and they are nothing. by the way my car is bone stock

that's a huge part of the problem right there. high revving 4 cylinder and auto trannies are not a good combo.

^don't listen to the post above your VTEC does not kick in at 4,500 or above, it's much lower than that and variable on 6th gens i think too.

I love the F23A found in the Accords.
55k mi and 4 years of hard, enthusiastic driving, have given me...
1. No oil leaks,
2. no oil consumption,
3. sips gas like a charm to the tune of 30+ mpg,
4. purs like a kitten in the drive,
5. cruises at 80mph on the expressway all day.
6. Always starts first try.
7. The VTEC is just advance enough and smooth enough to give the car a modern feel.
8. The ignition and spark plugs are low tech enough to be cheap as heck to replace.
9. She never leaves me stranded and rarely leaves me wanting.
10. Runs on regular gas...oh yah.

I love the venerable SOHC CAM Honda F-series!

Greatest car I've ever owned, but mines and 5-speed and it makes all the difference.
