However, I would suggest you get the Prelude... the A4 is very unreliable... Audi's are notorious for having recalls and tons of problems, like with electronics and stuff... my bro has a 92 Corrado VR6, its had TONS of problems, my cousins have a 00 Golf 1.8T and they've had to replace the ECU 2 times, it died 2 times for no reason, and it only has 35K miles on it... Audi's break down, thats a fact.

comming from VW I know a little about audis. (This are all internet quoted mateial and might not be 100% correct)
the prelude in handling will be much better. Mind you an A4 Quattro would be fun to drive. but a little sloppy on the handling in comparison.
a late 90s a4 2.8 will be a little slower on the quarter than a prelude and a 1.8t will be somewhere in the 16s depending on 4wd or not. A chipped a4 1.8t 5 spd front wheel drive will probably be as fast as a prelude and maybe even a hair faster.(15-15.5). a $2000 K04 upgrade will hit low 14s but thats a different story.
btw: A gti 1.8t with a chip will easily hit mid 14s and even 13s with perfect tuning and driving. (these cars a very much overlooked)
Audis arent too unreliable - the things that go wrong are more "comfort" oriented usually. The engines/trannies are good.
(the corrado was kind of an experimental car for the g60 and vr6 engines so were unreliable).
Having said all that I chose a prelude and im happy. the audi would have been more money to have go as fast as the prelude and im not much of a "refined interior" guy.
