RX-8 vs. S2000
Hi i'm new to this forum and was wondering which car would win in both track/drag race? Because i'm looking forward to purchase a s2000 myself, becuase my cousin has one and he tells me its a bad azz handling car. But I also hear lots of people at my college say they spank s2000 with their rx8 and was wondering if its true the s2000 has low torque and can't launch..

yea sure the rx-8 beat the s2k.
i beat an rx-8 in my 1992 prelude.
and i was pulling on him fairly hard thru 3rd gear.
they run like low 15's, high 14's if your a miracle worker

Considering the automatic RX-8 only has 197 flywheel horsepower and weighs over 3,000 pounds, it's not suprising.
RX-8's have similar power output and the S2k weighs around 200 pounds less, I'd say that yes, under perfect racing conditions an S2k would most likely outrun the RX-8.
The RX-8 is also a four door sedan. If you want to race something more appropriate to the S2k's class, stick to FD RX-7's. In good running stock condition, they will outrun an S2k no sweat.

On the circuit with equal drivers i'd really like to see what happens. I have a feeling the s2 will do better, especially the 04' models with the extra displacement.

On a circuit, I'd go with the RX-8. Mazda has said that in their testing, the RX-8 outhandled the FD in turns (even though the FD disappeared off into the distance on the straightaways. )
