Swapping From D15b7 To D16z6 A Few Questions.
Hi, I am swapping my D15b7 For a D16z6 Vtec. A few questions.
1. Will it bolt right in to the D15b7 mounts?
2. I will be putting the EX tranny in. Will this bolt right up? All the Hydrolic lines?
3. I have never swapped a whole engine will I need a hoist?
4. While I have it out can I paint the block and tranny or do they get to HOT for painting? I know you cant paint the head around the exhaust holes because the paint will burn off.
5.How are the rods in this engine should I replace them with eagle rods while it is out?
6. Will all the lines plugs vacum hoses be the same?
Thanks for all the answers in advanced I will be turobing the engine keep that in mind and if you want to add something about the motor please do..

Still here... sorta...
1) no, you need an upper cam mount from the Z6 (I have one for sale)
2) If the EX tranny is a manual and your old motor was a manual, it will all work fine.
3) Yes, you will need a hoist.
4) You will need to use heat resistant paint. AZ or some auto store sells paint specifically for this, but you have to prep the surface VERY well to get them to work correctly.
5) Depends on what you're going to do to the motor. If you're going to boost it with a good deal of pressure then it would be a good idea to build up the internals with some rods and pistons. You could change your compression at this point too.

west coast pretty much covered everything....and since from earlier I know you are plannin on going boost, I would take the time while it is out to build the motor...aka put in rods, pistons, etc....whatever you can get done outside the car is a bonus.

not neccasarily you could always do like I did and take the front upper mount off of your d15 and swap it over onto the d16 while you are doing this you can change your timing belt. The only problem with this is that you can't get the stock cover to go back on without triming the plastic a little bit.
